Advanced Business Presentations in English

Business Presentations Class for Advanced Speakers of English as a Second Language

  Tuesday Evenings, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

September 28 - November 16, 2010

LIMITED TO ADVANCED AND NEAR-NATIVE SPEAKERS OF ENGLISH.
LIMITED TO 10 PARTICIPANTS ONLY.

Learn to engage your audience and present like a professional.  You will build your own presentation from concept to polished speech.  Learn to fluently and effectively present a variety of business content to an American audience.

  • Grow your confidence and make your presentations interesting.
  • Learn to focus on the audience and to speak from a key-word outline.
  • Stop reading your slides and start engaging your audience.
  • Learn openers, signposts, and other key language to make your presentations sound professional.
  • Structure a presentation to encourage audience engagement.
  • Effectively write your speech, your notes, and your presentation slides.
  • Use voice and intonation techniques to ensure that your audience can clearly understand you.
  • Answer audience questions clearly and effectively.
  • Learn alternate phrases and vocabulary to clearly express important ideas.
  • Accurately describe graphs and data to explain trends and changes over time.
  • Create your own presentation development plan to make future presentations simple to create and practice.

Presentations in English do not have to be difficult.  This class is designed to help you deliver presentations more effectively. Unlike most presentation classes which are designed for native speakers of English, this class will focus on the unique needs of nonnative speakers.

We will spend a lot of time practicing formal and confident speaking, learning important phrases and language, and using notes effectively.  We will also answer your questions.

Every participant in this class will design a presentation.  You are welcome to use a presentation from your work or to create a presentation on a topic that you choose.

This class is limited to advanced-level and near-native speakers of English.  We have another class for intermediate speakers at the same day and time.  Click here for more information.  If you have a question about which level is appropriate for you, please call us at 408-524-1649 before you register for the class.

The class will meet for 8 sessions for a total of 16 class hours. Classes will be Tuesday evenings from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.  In addition to in-class sessions, expect to have 2 hours of outside work per week.

On the final day of class, you will have the opportunity to give your presentation to the combined intermediate and advanced class participants.
